New Paper Highlights AccessComputing’s Impact on Disabled Students’ Computing Pathways

AccessComputing is excited about our paper recently published at 2026 International Computing Education Research (ICER) Conference titled Creating Space to Succeed: How AccessComputing Supports Disabled Students’ Computing Pathways. The paper reports on the results of a survey conducted in late 2024 of AccessComputing participants from 2015-2024. The survey asked participants about the perceived impact on AccessComputing on their journeys in computing.

Overall, the paper finds participants had highly positive experiences with AccessComputing and perceived multiple forms of support as being valuable. The paper discusses implications for how other initiatives can supported disabled students’ experiences in computing education.

We owe a special thanks to UC Irvine graduate student Alyson Yin for her work drafting the paper and especially for her tenacity in ensuring that the pdf was accessible.
